On Tuesday 12th December Harringworth Luncheon Club met at the Old White Hart in Lyddington for their Christmas lunch. 25 members had booked to attend but 5 people had to cancel almost at the last minute due to various reasons. Nevertheless a jolly group on two long tables in a private dining room enjoyed each other’s company and a tasty meal chosen from the extensive Christmas menu on offer. Crackers and silly hats contributed to the festive atmosphere.
The organisers Maggie Hill and Barbara Kedge informed the group of the next three venues and thanked everyone for in the main efficiently emailing back when asked for menu choices thus making the organisation much easier. Maggie Frankland did her usual entertainment spot of a funny joke to round off the lunchtime. This time she amused the group with two Christmas related jokes.
Normally the group meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month but because of Chefs’ day’s off in the winter the next three meetings will be on a Thursday lunchtime. January’s meeting is planned for Thursday 18th January at our own White Swan pub at 12.30 for 1pm. Menus will be emailed to members shortly. The lunch on Thursday February 22 will be at the newly renovated George and Dragon at Seaton. In March members will sample the haute cuisine of the Gallery restaurant at Stamford College where budding young chefs show off their talents. That will be on Thursday 15th March at lunchtime.
