The Rise of Uppingham a Talk by Dr. Vivian Anthony

Harringworth Fieldwork Group Presents: The Rise of Uppingham
a Talk by Dr. Vivian Anthony

This small settlement on a plateau above the Eyebrook Valley underwent a transformation into one of the principal towns in the county of Rutland. It saw off the challenges of Ridlington and Lyddington and came to rival Oakham in size and importance. From its earliest times, Dr. Anthony chronicles the rise of Uppingham up to the 19thC and helps us understand what we see around us today.
Dr. Vivian Anthony is Chair of Uppingham Local History Study Group. He is a former secretary of the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC)
